So my new lifestyle has many moving components to get where I am today. Too many to mention. Some good, some bad. But one is retirement. Let’s talk a bit about that. So Im giving up a perfectly good job. I fact the best job I ever had. But at the end of the day its not about the job. or the money. I will be living on less than half of what I was making. And I’m good with that. I should be able to eat almost every day.
But on the same token, I have no debt, no living expense (that’s not van related). Everything I own is paid for. All I need money for is day to day stuff. Just to live. So I have it better than most in that respect. In time I think I will get another brick and mortar apartment but I definitely wont buy a place. I need to keep my options open. More on this another day.
I think people always wait for that perfect time to retire. So they never do. Or do so too late. Im 66 and still am relatively healthy so its go time. At some point you have to just close your eyes and jump. Even if I need to go back to some work when I’m 70+ and not able to do things so what? If I can no longer do things I might as well try to work. But that’s not today. It’s just so hard to find good help so in the meantime I’m still helping out ongoing. But I’m not changing any plans. I’ll be working almost completely remote. And I don’t mean from home (I don’t have one), Im mean from CO\UT\WY\MT.

Here is how a vanlife professional works on the road. Getting shit done. So for awhile Im helping out and dont mind but still considered myself retired. Like 70% retired. And living the dream for the time being.
